The Chatterbox Day

The nursery is open between 8.30am and 4.30pm during term-times.

We believe that care and education are equally important in the experience which we offer children. The routines and activities that make up the day:

  • help each child to feel they are a valued member of the setting
  • ensure the safety of each child
  • help children gain from the social experience of being part of a group
  • provide children with opportunities to learn and help them value learning

Sessions

The day is organised so that children can choose from a variety of child-chosen and adult-led activities, building up their ability to select and work through a task to completion and taking account of changing energy levels throughout the day. Outdoor activities contribute to their health, physical development, and their knowledge of the world around them.

Meals and Snacks

We make snacks and meals a social time at which children and adults eat together, and plan menus to provide healthy and nutritious food. Please tell us about any specific dietary needs.

Clothing

We provide protective clothing for the children when they are involved in messy activities. We encourage children to gain the skills to help them be independent and look after themselves, including taking themselves to the toilet, and putting outdoor clothes on and off. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.
