Job Title: Student Librarian
Years 7-13
Job Purpose: to promote reading and literacy across the school, assist students on choosing appropriate reading material suitable for their age groups, to help the school librarians run the library.
Line management: Miss Murphy and Mrs Prince

- Good knowledge of a variety of authors and different genres
- Good organisation skills
- Confident communicator
- Excellent behaviour, attitude and attendance
Specific duties:
Throughout your role as a Junior Student Librarian, you will work one break or lunch time in the library on a rota-basis to complete some of the duties outlined below:
- Make recommendations of good books to read to fellow students
- To verbally communicate your interest in reading, as well as the benefits of reading to fellow students
- To communicate effectively in writing by creating posters, book reviews, or displays for the library
- To assist library staff in organising library challenges, as well as reading events such as World Book Day and Harry Potter Night
- To assist library staff in administrative duties such as collecting reserved books, returning, and borrowing books for students, and creating letters for overdue books
- To be aware of the library layout and to assist library staff in organising the stock, as well as maintaining a tidy and pleasant atmosphere in the library
