Year 9 Peace Museum Exhibition Showcases Creativity, Reflection and Remembrance

The Ashcombe School was delighted to welcome students, families and staff to our Year 9 Peace Museum Exhibition, an evening that celebrated the remarkable creativity, empathy and insight of our students.

Drawing on their learning across English, History and Art, Year 9 students created a collection of original poetry and artwork inspired by themes explored through the study of war poetry, the World Wars and the Holocaust. The exhibition provided a powerful opportunity for students to reflect on the impact of conflict, remembrance and the importance of peace.

Visitors were moved by the quality of the work on display and the thoughtful responses students produced. Through their writing and artistic interpretations, students demonstrated not only their creativity and talent but also a deep understanding of complex historical events and their lasting significance.

The exhibition highlighted the value of cross-curricular learning and showcased how students can combine historical knowledge, literary analysis and artistic expression to engage with challenging and important themes. It was wonderful to see so many families and members of our school community attending and taking the time to view and celebrate the students’ work.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 9 students for the maturity, reflection and sensitivity they demonstrated throughout the project. Their work was both inspiring and thought provoking, and they should be congratulated on the outstanding standard of the exhibition.

Thank you to all the students, staff, families and visitors who supported the event and helped make it such a success. We would also like to thank the English, History and Art Departments for their collaboration in bringing this meaningful project to life.

We are proud of the way our students used creativity as a tool for remembrance, reflection and understanding, reminding us of the importance of learning from the past to help shape a better future.
