Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award information page. We currently offer the opportunity for students to achieve Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards during their time at The Ashcombe School.

Bronze Award
The Ashcombe School is currently offering the Bronze Award to Year 10 for 2024/2025.
- Bronze Groups of 7 (mixed boys and girls) to be submitted by February half-term or they will be automatically allocated
- Please remember that Bronze Assessed Expeditions are moving to Activities Week (14th to 18th July), so participants will only do 4 days Work Experience
- Groups should choose from Sunday 13th/Monday 14th July expedition OR Friday 18th/Saturday 19th July.

Route training sessions will run at 8am on Wednesdays and 3.40pm on Thursdays and Fridays throughout May 2025.
Dates for the Diary
Final Payment: 30th May 2025
Training Days: Friday 18th October 2024 (INSET day)
and Saturday 19th October 2024.
Attendance on BOTH days is required
Assessed Expeditions: Sunday 13th July to Monday 14th July 2025 OR Friday 18th July to Saturday 19th July 2025. Participants can choose the date of their expedition, but the cohort must be divided in half so once an expedition is full, participants will have to join the other.
Route planning sessions will run on Wednesdays at 8.00am, Thursdays and Fridays at 3.30pm throughout May 2025.
There are five payment deadlines:
Deposit (non-returnable) - £40: noon Friday 24th May 2024
Payment 1 - £40: noon Friday 28th June 2024
Payment 2 - £40: noon Friday 27th September 2024
Payment 3 - £40: noon Friday 31st January 2025
Payment 4 - £40: noon Friday 30th May 2025

Silver Award
The Ashcombe School is offering the Silver Award to Year 11 for 2024/2025.
Dates for the diary
Final Payment: Friday 28th February 2025
Practice Expedition: Thursday 26th September to Saturday 28th September 2024
Route planning: Wednesdays 8:00am, Thursdays and Fridays 3:40pm throughout September in RO
Assessed Expedition: Thursday 3rd April to Saturday 5th April 2025
Route planning: Wednesdays 8am, Thursdays and Fridays in January in RO
Gold Award
The Ashcombe School is offering the Gold Award to Year 12 for 2024/2025.

- Practice expedition: Wednesday 30th April to Sunday 4th May 2025 (Snowdonia, Wales)
- Assessed expedition: Saturday 12th July to Wednesday 16th July 2025 (The Lake District)
