Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has indicated that direct comparisons between performance data for one school or college and another, or data from previous years, should not be made.
National Performance Highlights
Progress 8 is a type of value added measure which compares students’ Key Stage 4 results to those of other pupils nationally with similar prior attainment from their KS2 results.
Attainment 8 is the total points allocated according to grades the pupil achieves across 8 qualifications including mathematics (double weighted) and English (double weighted), 3 further qualifications that count in the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) measure and 3 further qualifications subjects that are added together to give the Attainment 8 score.
- Progress 8 Score for Academic Year 2022/23 is 0.19.
- The Attainment 8 score for 2022/23 was 53.6 – the national average is 46.2 and local average is 50.7.
- The percentage of students entered into the EBacc in 2022/23 was 72%, with an average points score of 5.1 compared to the local and national averages of 4.48 and 4.05.
- Students obtaining a 5+ in English and Maths also demonstrates improvement against local and national scores,
- The national average percentage of students staying in education or entering employment was 94% in 2023. At The Ashcombe 97% of the students in 2022/23 remained in education or entered employment, which is also above the local average of 95%.
