Year 9-10 French Exchange Visits

Most recent exchange 2017

Pompidou Centre

The French exchange offers a unique opportunity to experience French language and culture, and to offer friendly hospitality to Parisian teenagers. It was an absolute pleasure to read emails and diaries of those involved, and knowing that an exchange can make such a difference to people's lives makes the extra effort all worthwhile.

Visits this year included a talk on 'L'académisme to impressionnisme' at the Musée d'Orsay, a boat trip on the Seine, an art lesson and a French poetry lesson, a visit to key monuments on l'Ile de la Cité (La Conciergerie, La Sainte Chappelle and the towers of Notre Dame), a lively market, and Montmartre. The most popular visit this year seemed to be to Le Stade de France, led by an engaging guide who arranged for us to walk in teams through the tunnel towards the famous pitch.

The pupils were great company, never complaining, and always polite and appreciative. Thanks to the teachers and support staff who organised the trip and accompanied them (Miss Myers, Miss Caron, Miss Maconochie and Mrs Prince) and to the French staff and families involved.

We are already looking forward to organising next year's exchange, and will talk about it at the Year 8 Normandy information evening.
