Introducing the Trust

Outdoor activities

The Ashcombe Trust is a Registered Charity dedicated to improving the quality and range of opportunities offered to all Ashcombe pupils.

Run by a board of Trustees comprising parents, staff and independent members, the Trust encourages parents and friends of the school to support the development of a trust fund. This supports projects that fall outside the core educational budget but add greatly to the quality of the Ashcombe experience.

In recent years, the Trust has helped to fund major improvements to school facilities and activities, including the Sports Hall, the Sixth Form Centre, the Covered Area Project and has provided assistance with equipment for music, sport activities and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions. Most recently, it has helped purchase a lightweight disabled access minibus, interactive whiteboards and a 3D laser cutter for DT.

Sponsored Walk

We are extremely pleased to report that the 2017 Sponsored Walk has achieved its fundraising target of £25,000 for the new minibus.

Thanks to the intrepid efforts of our pupils in the Surrey Hills mud and the generous support of their parents, families and friends, we have received donations (including Gift Aid) of just over £20,000.

When local Dorking company Stonegate Homes Ltd heard of our efforts through The Ashcombe Trust, they offered to make a generous donation of £5,000 to ensure the target is met.

The Ashcombe Trust suppored our students fundraising and enabled Gift Aid to contribute £2,000 towards the total £25,000 is a record sum for the Sponsored Walk to raise, and is an achievement the whole Ashcombe community can be proud of.

We look forward to the delivery of the new minibus early in the New Year.

With many thanks to all concerned in the walk and the fundraising.

Recording Studio - Refit

Our most recent project was the full refit of our Recording Studio, this has now been completed and funded by a donation from the Humphrey Richardson Taylor Trust and the Ashcombe Trust, with many kind donations from parents and those associated with the school. The studio has been refitted with brand new equipment, and had ports put into the adjoining classroom so that recordings can be made from there, giving students an opportunity to create live recordings using a mixing desk and full setup has expanded what they are able to compose.

This has been a fantastic resource and is often fully booked for use by students at lunchtime and in the afternoon. Thank to all those that made donations

James Rosser and Peter Thompson Memorial Fund

Following the tragic death of James Rosser in Rwanda in 2008 and of Peter Thompson in 2011, a Memorial Fund has been set up in their names.

The fund will support three areas which Mr Rosser was involved in: a communal seating area (probably within the covered area project), and support for the links with Rwanda and and our partner school in Tanzania. In particular, the group of students who went to Rwanda were consulted about that element, and suggested that we consider supporting the gorilla conservation organisations

To contribute to this Memorial Fund, please send your donation to the Ranmore Office.

Tax payers can increase the value of their donation by accompanying it with a completed Gift Aid Declaration form

PLEASE clearly mark your donation thus: "JAMES ROSSER AND PETER THOMPSON MEMORIAL FUND"
